Webinar Overview

On the 3rd of November, Small Giants and Positive Energy Blocks Initiatives of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities will present the value-add of positive energy blocks to the urban strategies of small and medium-sized European cities (“small giants”).

A Positive Energy Block (PEBs) is a group of at least three connected neighbouring buildings that annually produce more energy than required in terms of lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation. Such buildings should serve different purposes (housing, offices, commercial spaces…), take advantage of complementary energy consumption curves and optimize local renewable energy production, consumption and storage. Sitting at the intersection of energy, ICT and transport, the innovative concept of PEBs can contribute towards to the social, environmental and economic challenges by promoting citizen-oriented, sustainable solutions that will improve urban quality of life.

During this webinar, various speakers from local authorities, industry and financing will discuss positive energy blocks and their added value to the urban strategies of small and medium-sized European cities.

The webinar is open to all, with a focus on representatives from local authorities who are interested in submitting project applications in this field. This webinar is part of our Smart & Sustainable Cities In Focus track.
