Enedis (ex-ERDF) have successfully tested an innovative solar transformer to manage voltage levels on the low voltage distribution grid in Carros, South of France.

As part of the Nicegrid pilot project, this simple-to-implement solution, based on smart sensors and local control, has enabled twice as much Solar PV generation from Carros' residential rooftop panels to be leveraged without destablizing the grid. With more and more ecodistricts generating solar energy in this part of France, Christophe Lebosse from ERDF will detail how the smart solution adapts voltage levels depending on variable sunlight at the network's secondary substation.

Xavier Moreau from Schneider Electric will highlight some of technical and economic benefits of avoiding regulatory penalties and equipment damage due to voltage fluctuations.
