William E. McEvoy just retired as the Director of Information Technology Real Time Systems at Eversource Energy. He was responsible for all real time IT systems within the Transmission, Distribution and Gas businesses which includes identifying, prioritizing and aligning all IT services and investments with the companies strategies and objectives. Bill was also the Eversource Energy Smart Grid Information Technology Program Manager. Prior to being name the Smart Grid Program Manager, he spent 4 years in the role of Northeast Utilities Cyber Security Program Manager.
A native of Waterbury, CT, McEvoy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Management Information Systems, both from the University of New Haven.
McEvoy started his professional career at NU in 1982. Over his career at NU he has held various IT management positions including product manager, technology manager and account manager. In addition to the various roles within IT, McEvoy also held several management positions within the transmission business; including Coordinator of Staff Services, Project Manager and Manager of Transmission Operations & Engineering.
McEvoy represented Eversource Energy on the EEI Cyber Security Working Group, EEI Smart Grid Working Group, North American Transmission Forum Cyber Security Working Group, is a voting member on the North American Reliability Council (NERC) Critical Infrastructure and Protection Committee (CIPC); he also served 2 years as the Chairmen of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) Task Force on Infrastructure and Technology (TFIST).
