Sacha Meckler is an innovator, change maker and thought leader with over 17 years’ global leadership and innovation experience working in the smart grid, smart city, telecoms and finance domains. During this time, he has held senior and executive roles across a very broad spectrum of organisations from start-ups (enian) to Blue-chips (Orange) across tech, telecoms, software, banking and consulting. He has led innovation projects in Africa and Europe, for example launching a first of its kind mass market mobile payment platform in South Africa (a precursor to M-PESA). He publishes work on a range of innovation subjects dealing with socio-technical and system change, from transformation of the energy sector (System Change) to climate change policy (Climate Change). His work covers technical, commercial, social, policy, innovation and strategy domains. He regularly speaks at and chairs conferences with cross cutting themes, and challenges old paradigms to develop improved models and system. He currently holds executive and non-executive board roles and other leadership roles in the UK, and is a member of the TechUK IoT council. He holds a MSc Environmental Economics and Development Policy from the LSE, a BSc (Hons) Electrical Engineering from WITS.
