Commercialisation of Energy Storage in Europe

This study is primarily intended for a wide variety of
stakeholders, from policy makers and investors to OEMs
and utilities, to provide them with an understanding of:

  • The implications of increased RES penetration on the role that energy storage can play in the European electric power sector of the future
  • The business case for individual energy storage services and which technologies are among the most suitable for the individual services
  • The actions required to improve the competitiveness of energy storage. The study was funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen joint Undertaking aiming to understand the future demand for energy storage from a technology neutral point of view
