In this talk, we will learn how Omega Grid is creating the opportunity for peer-to-peer energy transfer by using existing utility infrastructure, with a goal to provide utilities with an efficient, scalable transactive energy system to manage the inflow of new DER and supply clean electricity.
Blockchain is a digital ledger platform that verifies transactions and other functions without the need for a central authority. In this session Omega Grid will talk about a recent pilot with a utility's experimental microgrid, in which they utilised blockchain technology to:
- Track the production and consumption of power
- Run optimal power flow analysis
- Help fund local renewable energy projects
- Enable peer-to-peer renewable energy trading
