In the UK, around 18 million households could save hundreds of pounds by switching energy supplier, but the process can often be stressful and time consuming. In this lightning talk we hear about a unique solution from the Labrador.
The Labrador Retriever is a smart device that automatically switches supply based on customers' individual energy usage. The technology presents a unique solution in that it is the only way to get granular data from smart meters in real-time, and has been integrated with different SMSO platforms in the market to enable a service that can operate across both SMETS1 and SMETS2, also keeping smart meters smart on a switch.
Taking auto switching to the next level, as the only price comparison service that works with smart meters, the Labrador to date has two thirds of its customers having given it delegated authority to switch on their behalf, and a third get sent switch alerts, that they simply reply “Yes” to accept. Not only is it a frictionless, hassle-free and transparent solution for the customer, it represents more than a standard customer acquisition for the supplier, with almost half of its customers wanting smart meters as a route to help suppliers meet their government targets.
