Submit A Tech Talk

To overcome current challenges, understanding new creative solutions and uncovering the latest innovations is key. Based on active use-cases and pilots, these sessions bring technology to life with business-case driven deeper dives into real-world technology. They offer an honest assessment of how mature the technology is and what it’s immediate impacts could be.

Work Groups - colaborative outcomes

Removing barriers with expert facilitation by trained coaches and specialists

Developing action-plans with all attendees given a voice

Working Groups are at the heart of Engerati Meets; they move away from traditional conference powerpoints with all participants taking part on equal basis to ensure consensus and intelligence sharing.

Led by expert facilitators, the groups help remove barriers to change, identify growth opportunities and establish new action-plans. Focusing on key challenges decided at the Meet itself, the diverse makeup of the group ensures robust discussion and new ideas. The discussion is captured by Engerati editors, anonymised and distributed on engerati.com.

Lightning Talks - quick, fun, informative

Quick-fire limited to 10 minutes and 20 slides.

Real world projects from the people who did them.

Informative focusing on key learning and material outcomes.

Honest and to the point. Failures and successes.

Submit A Lightning Talk

If you cannot share lessons learned in 10 minutes, they are not worth hearing about. Submitted by utility members, these quick-fire case studies showcase key learnings from active projects to highlight technology in action. The challenge is to communicate the business impact of real-world deployments and results in just 10 minutes with 20 slides. We encourage presenters to openly dissect mistakes so fellow members do not encounter the same problem.

Protecting data and infrastructure in an evolving digital landscape

Why Cybersecurity? The energy and utility sector has always been a prime target for attackers; be it from a skilled hacker, industrial espionage or even something state-sponsored. These are the modern realities that utilities and retailers must prepare for and with the converge of IT and operational technology, decentralisation and edge intelligence, the risk is perhaps higher now than at anytime before.

As such, it is absolutely imperative to maintain coverage, monitor and detect emerging security breaches across the entire network. Spend on security is estimated to reach as much as $10 billion by 2020 and controls must be in place to prevent attacks that will cause massive economic and potential security issues.

Not only would blackouts and outages disrupt millions of customers but medical care and emergency services for example, putting many lives at risk. Beyond the infrastructure threat, the huge amount of customer data being collected represents a whole other range of threats. The growth of flexibility and demand-response, complicates this further still and security practice must keep-up with evolving technologies.

The aim of this Meet is to delve into security techniques and technologies to ensure best-practice processes are being followed and cutting-edge technology implemented to protect modern-day infrastructure and data from increasingly advanced attacks.

Impact areas covered:

Safeguarding networks from attack

Electricity networks are complex digital and physical systems that are critical to life and commerce. There are many possible vulnerabilities and as the grid becomes more dependant on IT and digitisation, the cybersecurity threat only increases further.

How can threats be identified before they occur and what collaboration is required across the value-chain to protect vulnerable infrastructure?

If data is the new gold, how do we protect it?

Not only do increasingly connected devices make the grid and infrastructure more prone to attack, but as data builds both from increased analytics and from behind the meter services expanding, utilities and retailers have more data at risk than ever before.

What best-practice must be put in place to protect these new data streams from hacks and potential system shutdown?

Thinking like a hacker

In the digital world, threats not only come from state-sponsored attacks but Hacktivists and employee breaches. It requires a paradigm shift to stay a step ahead and a different mentality to protect from ongoing threats.

The October Meet on Cybersecurity

Sensors and architecture layers are increasing as the grid digitises. As such, the utility network is perhaps more vulnerable than ever before; be it from a sophisticated state-sponsored attack or amateur hackers.

Attacks are not only a massive economic issue but a mission-critical one and Utility spending on cyber security continues to increase. Are your current practices evolving alongside these market changes?

Attend this 2 day meeting alongside 200 Engerati members to...

Update best practice processes with 50+ expert speakers and facilitators delving deeper into key challenges to ensure your questions get answered.

Uncover cutting-edge technology to protect modern-day infrastructure with over 300 member meetings to be booked.

Share key outputs with your whole team with our Meets archive of over 100 presentations, graphic illustrations and reports from Engerati.

”A great event to put together companies working in the state-of-the-art new energy business and technologies.'”

Javier Pascual, Head of Smart-Home Building & Energy Efficiency Solutions, Indra

”Adam and his team ran a great Engerati Meets event this week in Vienna. It wasn’t too big and anonymous like many events can be, and there were plenty of networking opportunities and excellent content from the speakers. Well done folks. Highly recommended.”

Tom Raftery, Global VP, Futurist, Innovation Evangelist, SAP

”The dynamic, interactive atmosphere of the Engerati Meets event fostered business and created opportunity. For Joule, it brought together a range of clients and future clients into one space. Less than 24 hours later, we have a substantial list of follow-up actions to take forward. A great use of two days of the teams time!”

Jessica Stromback, Chairman, Europe, Joule Assets Inc.

”Engerati hosts a great platform and excellent conference team which will not only broaden your horizon, but also allow meeting like-minded individuals who might become your next partners, investors, colleagues and more.”

Kaspars Osis, CEO and Co-Founder, RCG Lighthouse
