The energy landscape is evolving quickly in Europe -- from smart meter and smart grid deployments, to advances in smart buildings and analytics technology, to meeting the EU's 2020 renewable energy targets, and more.
European Utility Week (Oct. 15-17 in Amsterdam) will gather the sharpest minds and most influential organizations in Europe's energy industry to discuss a wide range of current and emerging issues. This conference combines three prior industry events: Metering, Billing/CRM Europe, Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids Europe, and Smart Homes
Last year, a survey of EUW 2012 attendees indicated some interesting perspectives. For instance, over 70% believed that Europe's transition to smart energy is primarily policy-driven, rather than market driven. And when asked who will profit most from this transition, they responded:
- 55%: New entrants such as retailers and technology companies
- 24%: Energy service providers
- 12%: Network operators
- 9% Incumbent energy suppliers
Will these opinions hold true again this year?
EUW represents an opportunity for European utilities to strengthen their ability to thrive and play a leadership role in Europe's energy future. The conference program covers six tracks:
- Smart transmission and distribution infrastructure
- Renewable integration and storage
- Smart metering, ICT and data management
- Smart homes and end user engagement
- Smart cities
- Smart gas and water metering
This year at EUW, several experts from Siemens' divisions and businesses will deliver presentations and participate on panels about key topics such as the role of energy data ownership, advanced analytics, smart grid cybersecurity and making technology choices with 2020 in mind.
Siemens is proud to be the Diamond Sponsor of EUW. At our exhibition booth (1.A09) will be experts from the Smart Grid and Building Technology divisions, as well as information about our energy-sector products and services.
To get a sneak peak of what we will be showcasing, check out our event website where you can discover some of our highlights--also in video format! You will also find access to a free exhibition pass, our free Pre-EUW webinar with Christian Heuer "Developing Integrated Smart Grid Strategies" and the interview with Dr. Mrosik, CEO Siemens Smart Grid.
We'll be posting updates from EUW during and after the event, so watch this blog for news. Meanwhile, you can follow the action online via the Twitter hashtag #EUW13, or join our over 5,000 followers under our @Siemens_SG twitter account.
