Atos Worldgrid, an international subsidiary of Atos and a world leader in smart energy, has signed today a three year contract amounting to more than 10 million Euros for handling the overall integration of the GrDF gas smart meters program. Atos Worldgrid will develop the Common Core and Exchange Architectures integrating the various IT systems under construction.
The ambitious and innovative GrDF gas smart meters program aims at enhancing the performance of the distributor and the development of new customer services. The project ecosystem, including several companies involved in the construction of different IT systems, induces a strong complexity of integration and project management.
Involved in the architecture and framing of this program since 2010, Atos Worldgrid can leverage on the numerous projects undertaken for over 30 years in the Energy sector, in order to implement the integration strategies for the entire solution and contribute towards the success of the world’s largest gas smart meters deployment to date.
Franck Chevalley, Senior Vice President Smart Utilities at Atos Worldgrid said: « Atos Worldgrid will partner GrDF in mastering the issues of reliability, quality, costs and deadlines which are key for the success of the GAZPAR project. Following numerous references in France, Europe and Asia, this contract reinforces the leadership of Atos Worldgrid in the smart metering market. »
Patrick Dardoise, GrDF's Gas Smart Meter Program Director added: "Ever since the origin of the project, we are relying on the proven expertise of Atos Worldgrid in "smart energy" and its track record in "smart metering" projects, in order to define the transverse architecture and guarantee the overall coherence of the program.”
The roll-out of the smart meters will begin in 2015, with completion expected by 2022. The smart meters will provide GrDF customers with real time knowledge of their exact energy consumption, enabling them to monitor and control their energy bills more effectively. Verification and maintenance operations will be carried out without the need for the customer's presence. It will also be easier and quicker to implement any changes required by the customer, for example concerning tariffs or services.
GrDF (Gaz réseau Distribution France) is an independent subsidiary of the GDF SUEZ Group, created during the unbundling of the energy market (distribution was previously operated by Gaz de France).
