In this live studio interview at Asian Utility Week, Dr Jai Govind Singh, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Energy Field of Study, Asian Institute of Technology, discusses the benefits of distributed power grids in Asia. He says that these future energy systems will help to alleviate pressure on the main grid and will also increase access to power.

Community power grids

He suggests that each community has its own isolated grid, fed by renewable generation, and these grids can also eventually be integrated if and when the need arises. Mr Singh also discusses how power interconnections between countries can also strengthen Asia’s energy security and how it is already becoming a reality. He recommends that countries look beyond their own boundaries to develop clean energy.
