African Utility Week 2013

Published: Thu 16 May 2013

This year, African Utility Week 2013 was held in Cape Town, South Africa. Over 250 suppliers were given the opportunity to showcase their latest and most sophisticated technology, solutions and services at the city’s International Convention Centre. Engerati is proud to have been a part of this event and managed to arrange a significant number of exclusive interviews with leading industry experts at the conference. Exciting product and service updates, as well as company viewpoints were shared with the Engerati team. These video interviews will be released on the site over the next few weeks. Generally speaking, those we interviewed enjoyed the conference and are excited by the immense potential that Africa has to offer.

The opening session included the following keynote speakers who touched on Africa’s power challenges and energy needs:

  • Brian Dames (Eskom CEO)
  • Anton Eberhard (Professor at Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business)
  • Glenn Hodes (Senior Program Manager, Africa Carbon Asset Development Facility, Denmark)
  • Minister Edna Molewa (Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs of South Africa)
  • Nawal Al-Hosany (Director of Sustainability, Masdar, Director, Zayed Future Energy Prize, Abu Dhabi).

Delegates were spoilt for choice as they enjoyed two full days of free and unlimited access to numerous workshops on Metering, Clean Power, Water, Large Power Users, Investment and Finance, T&D, Smart Grids and Generation.

In addition to the video interviews, Engerati will be publishing articles that will expand on the various subjects discussed and debated at the conference.

If you attended the conference, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to join our Engerati Smart Energy Community to network, share and collaborate.
